The NFL is "actively" looking into the shooting of Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib, a league official told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Commissioner Roger Goodell doesn't look fondly on players who carry guns while intoxicated, especially players who have a history with guns like Talib, the source told Schefter.

Talib suffered a gunshot wound to his right leg during an incident Sunday morning in Dallas, but there have been conflicting reports on the details of the events.

The 30-year-old reportedly said he was too intoxicated to remember who shot him, but there is speculation he could have, in fact, shot himself.

Head coach Gary Kubiak said Tuesday the plan is for Talib to be at team headquarters Wednesday for medical evaluation, but there's no timetable for his on-field return.

"I'm concerned about his health and where he's at physically," Kubiak said.

Talib was indicted in 2011 for firing a gun at his sister’s boyfriend, but the charges were later dropped.
