Every Wednesday until training camps open, theScore will reveal the best catches, interceptions, runs, defensive touchdowns, returns, game-winning touchdowns, hits, and Hail Marys.

Best Plays of 2015

The third installment of the series features the best runs of the 2015 season.

5. Lamar Miller vs. Texans, Week 7

The Texans signed Lamar Miller to a four-year contract this summer, ostensibly impressed by his performance while with the Miami Dolphins. Miller carves the Texans' defense apart in a display of pure, unabated straight-line speed. After taking the handoff, Miller sprints through the offensive line, leaving Jadeveon Clowney, Brian Cushing, and a host of defenders in a proverbial cloud of dust. Miller stutter steps in space, causing the Texans' defensive backs to freeze up as he split the pair, remaining untouched on the second-longest run of 2015.

4. Adrian Peterson vs. Chargers, Week 3

Adrian Peterson's full arsenal of speed, power, and field vision were best exemplified against the Chargers, where he scampered for a 43-yard touchdown run. Corey Liuget exploded off the line and Peterson wisely darted around him to the outside. Peterson embarrassed Chargers safety Jimmy Wilson by knocking him to the ground as he continued to reach top speed and race past linebacker Kyle Emanuel. The three-time rushing champion swerved back inside past Eric Weddle, and the rest of the Chargers' defense couldn't help but watch Peterson stride into the end zone.

3. C.J. Anderson vs. Patriots, Week 12

C.J. Anderson's 48-yard touchdown to defeat the Patriots in overtime was one of the most important and impressive runs of the year. On third-and-1, Anderson received the toss and accelerated away from Patriots defensive linemen Jabaal Sheard and Alan Branch, the latter of whom dove and missed badly. With one man left to beat, Anderson continued to steer further inside and was off to the races, giving the Broncos a seminal 30-24 overtime victory over the Patriots.

2. David Johnson vs. Eagles, Week 15

David Johnson belied his rookie status with a tremendous individual effort against the Eagles in Week 15. Johnson initially cuts outside, then plants back inside after Jaylen Watkins and Taylor Hart overrun him in pursuit. Seeking contact, Johnson barreled into a barrage of defenders and keeps his feet moving through the pile, driving numerous players into the ground. Johnson sprinted away from the pack and hit Ed Reynolds and E.J. Biggers with devastating stiff arms to remain upright en route to the end zone, doing a great job of keeping his feet inbound while perilously close to the sideline.

1. Marcus Mariota, vs. Jaguars, Week 13

Marcus Mariota is the only quarterback to appear on this list, and his marvelous 87-yard touchdown run was the best of the season. The Titans installed some designed run plays for Mariota, but this wasn't one of them, as he correctly sprinted out the pocket once it collapsed. Mariota avoided a bevy of would-be tacklers, cut to the outside, and made Jaguars cornerback Dwayne Gratz look silly when he dove to take him down - to little avail. It was the defining play of Mariota's rookie campaign and the best run of the 2015 season.
