Daily Fantasy Dose: Washington's Offense Could be a National Treasure

Here is a look at the MLB Daily Fantasy Picture for Friday, June 3:

Top Stack Options

  • Washington Nationals, (at Reds): No team in the National League has a higher OPS against left-handers than the Nationals. That is bad news for Reds LHP Brandon Finnegan, who will get the start on Friday. Finnegan has allowed at least three earned runs in every start this season except one.

3-player stack: Jayson Werth, Daniel Murphy and Anthony Rendon
5-player stack: Ben Revere, Werth, Rendon, Wilson Ramos, Trea Turner

  • Houston Astros, (vs. A's): The Astros are 8-2 in their last 10 games. In those eight wins, the team has smacked 13 home runs. The club truly lives and dies by the long ball, making for a great matchup against Jesse Hahn. In his last four starts, Hahn has surrendered six dingers.

3-player stack: George Springer, Jose Altuve and SS Carlos Correa
5-player stack: Springer, Altuve, Correa, Colby Rasmus, Evan Gattis

  • Pittsburgh Pirates, (vs. Angels): The Pirates have an NL-leading .355 OBP this season against right-handed pitching. On Friday, they will face over-the-hill righty Jered Weaver and his 1.51 WHIP. Matt Joyce, who is hitting .456 against RHP this season, could get in the lineup if Clint Hurdle opts to give Andrew McCutchen (thumb) another day off.

3-player stack: John Jaso, Starling Marte, Joyce
5-player stack: Jaso, Marte, Jung Ho Kang, Francisco Cervelli, Joyce

Top Bargain Plays

  • 2B/SS Trea Turner, Nationals (at Reds): Turner was recalled on Thursday to replace Danny Espinosa as Washington's everyday SS. He is widely considered Washington's top position player prospect and hit .310/.376/.472 in Triple-A this season. The right-handed hitter has a distinct advantage facing subpar lefty Brandon Finnegan.
  • 2B/SS Darwin Barney, Blue Jays (at Red Sox): Barney received plenty of at-bats playing 2B before the return of Devon Travis, and now he is playing SS everyday with Troy Tulowitzki on the DL. He is hitting .344 on the season and has collected nine hits in his last 17 at-bats.
  • 1B Mark Reynolds, Rockies (at Padres): Reynolds has hit .333 in 51 at-bats versus lefties this season and will likely start at 1B against LHP Drew Pomeranz. Pomeranz is a two-pitch pitcher (fastball and curve) so Reynolds can sit on one pitch and hope to drive it out of the yard. He has eight homers in 146 career at-bats at Petco Park.

Top Contrarian Plays

  • OF Jose Bautista, Blue Jays (at Red Sox): With just one hit in his last three games, a low batting average on the season and a matchup with one of the best in the business in David Price, Bautista will be faded. However, he has a 1.167 OPS in 55 at-bats versus Price, and 22 homers in 224 career ABs at Fenway Park.
  • C Buster Posey, Giants, (at Cardinals): As the most expensive catcher on most sites, DFSers will look to a more productive catcher than Posey, who is off to a slow start. Nonetheless, Posey will face one of the worst pitchers on the slate in Adam Wainwright, who surrendered three long balls in his last outing and has an ERA close to 6.00 on the season.
  • 1B Hanely Ramirez, Red Sox (vs. Blue Jays): Through no fault of his own, Ramirez will have low-ownership as long as David Ortiz is on the lineup card. Han-Ram is hitting .291 with 31 RBIs this season. He is no stranger to R.A. Dickey, and the entire Red Sox offense could jump all over the struggling knuckler. Expect Ramirez to join in on the action.
