Here are theScore's second baseman value rankings for Thursday, June 2 (all stats exclude Wednesday's games):

Top Options
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Jose Altuve (HOU) | at ARI | 9 |
Josh Harrison (PIT) | at MIA | 9 |
Brian Dozier (MIN) | vs. TB | 9 |
Ian Kinsler (DET) | vs. NYY | 8 |
Jason Kipnis (CLE) | vs. KC | 8 |
With a struggling Altuve against a less-than-stellar Diamondbacks SP Zack Greinke, take Altuve. He costs less than his norm on some sites, which is all the reason you need. Dozier and Harrison are excellent against left-handed pitching and need to be heavily considered while their DFS salaries are as low as they are. Dozier, especially, has big power upside.
Kipnis is deployable whenever a righty is on the mound. He gets Royals RHP Yordano Ventura, who has limited left-handed batters to a .215 average, but has not done himself any favors with his command.

Mid-Tier Targets
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Robinson Cano (SEA) | at SD | 7 |
Whit Merrifield (KC) | at CLE | 7 |
Starlin Castro (NYY) | at DET | 7 |
Sean Rodriguez (PIT) | at MIA | 6 |
Aaron Hill (MIL) | at PHI | 6 |
Steve Pearce (TB) | at KC | 6 |
Ben Zobrist (CHC) | vs. LAD | 6 |
Yangervis Solarte (SD) | vs. SEA | 6 |
Daniel Descalso (COL) | vs. CIN | 6 |
Derek Dietrich (MIA) | vs. PIT | 6 |
Chase Utley (LAD) | at CHC | 5 |
Jonathan Schoop (BAL) | vs. BOS | 5 |
Joe Panik (SF) | at ATL | 5 |
Merrifield has yet to hit a home run, but he has scraped together consistent DFS value all the same with doubles and stolen bases. His salary will climb if it keeps up, but he's not too pricey yet. Cano carries a steep price tag and will need a multi-hit game, preferably with a home run, to truly be worth spending on. He's steady enough to consider in most formats despite the price, though.
Descalso is not going to set the world on fire, but he had five RBIs over his final two May games. If he starts, he could easily snag a couple of hits off Reds RHP Alfredo Simon. Zobrist may be underrated here, but there's too much uncertainty with Dodgers LHP Julio Urias. Maybe hold off on Zobrist for this one.

Nothing to See Here
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Jean Segura (ARI) | at HOU | 4 |
Tim Beckham (TB) | at MIN | 3 |
Brandon Phillips (CIN) | at COL | 3 |
Scooter Gennett (MIL) | at PHI | 3 |
Ivan De Jesus Jr. (CIN) | at COL | 2 |
Howie Kendrick (LAD) | at CHC | 2 |
Chase d'Arnaud (ATL) | vs. SF | 1 |
Kendrick has shown signs of turning his season around, but Cubs RHP Kyle Hendricks has been too good. Phillips is nursing a foot injury that has kept him out of two consecutive games. If he starts, don't rely on him. Gennett hasn't quite looked like the version of him from before the DL-stint. Don't invest until he can string together a streak.
