Ibrahimovic rules out return to Malmo

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has laughed off reports that he's set for an emotional return to where it all started in Malmo FF, apparently suggesting that he's too good for the Swedish Allsvenskan.

The 34-year-old opted to leave Paris Saint-Germain upon the conclusion of his contract at the end of the 2015-16 season, and has been heavily linked with a move to Jose Mourinho's Manchester United after Sweden's Euro 2016 campaign.

Ibrahimovic worked with the Portuguese at Inter Milan between 2008 and 2009, a brief period which saw the pair collect both the Supercoppa Italiana and Serie A titles.

"I want you to still write a lot of stories, so I get excited when I see them, because I want to see who is making up the best story," Ibrahimovic said in response to the transfer reports.

"When I'm tired of it, I'll let you know where I will go."

Malmo reached as far as the Champions League group stages last season, which also proved to be the final hurdle for Manchester United under Louis van Gaal. Under Mourinho, however, there are expected to be wholesale changes in the playing staff, supplemented by a reported transfer kitty of £200 million.

Given that Ibrahimovic is unattached to a club, acquiring the striker wouldn't require a transfer fee but he would demand a fat pay packet.

Ibrahimovic is due to play a final warm-up game against Wales on Sunday before Sweden kicks off its Euro bid against Ireland on June 13.
