Cody Garbrandt left no doubt who the winner was in a battle of the bantamweight division's brightest prospects.

The 24-year-old Alpha Male product needed less than three minutes to knock out Thomas Almeida in the main event of UFC Fight Night 88 in Las Vegas on Sunday.

In what was the first headlining spot for both fighters, Garbrandt made it look like he was the only one worthy of being considered an elite prospect as he took the fight right to Almeida. Punch after punch broke through his opponent's defenses until a right cross put him down for good at the 2:53 mark of the opening round.

An elated Garbrandt climbed the cage to celebrate his eighth knockout in nine professional fights, keeping his undefeated record intact.

On a night of upsets, Garbrandt's was arguably the most impressive. Almeida entered the event with a No. 7 ranking on the strength of a 20-0 record, only to suffer his first loss in resounding fashion.
