Camozzi puts beatdown on Miranda to take decision win

Joshua Lindsey / USA TODAY

Chris Camozzi joined in on the upset fun at UFC Fight Night 88 on Sunday.

A prolonged striking battle was expected to favor Brazilian Muay Thai expert Vitor Miranda, but he seemed hesitant to pull the trigger until it was too late. The more aggressive Camozzi poured on the pressure for 15 minutes to earn the unanimous decision win.

As if it wasn't bad enough for Miranda to be beaten at his own game, Camozzi threw in a healthy dose of ground-and-pound to put an exclamation point on the win. One particularly savage elbow opened up a cut above Miranda's right eye - a strong visual indicating who was winning the bout.

Camozzi improved to 3-1 in his third stint with the UFC, and 9-7 in 16 Octagon appearances. It's his third straight win since rejoining the organization last April.

At 37 years old, Miranda was the oldest fighter on the card. He lost for the first time as a UFC middleweight.
