Watch: Marcus Rashford becomes youngest player ever to score on England debut

Only 92 days after he scored two goals on his debut for Manchester United, Marcus Rashford, barely above the legal drinking age in the United Kingdom, scored on his debut for England's national team.

After Rashford was included in Roy Hodgson's starting XI for England's friendly against Australia at the Stadium of Light on Friday, the 18-year-old rewarded the manager's faith, scoring only three minutes into his international debut. His historic finish proved he's worthy of a place in the Three Lions' squad for Euro 2016.

Prior to kick-off, Hodgson stood by his decision to start Rashford, saying: "We wouldn't have selected him if he was not ready. All we can do is give him the opportunity and wish him the best. He's not been fazed by some big games for Manchester United. He has enormous pace. He's very direct. He's very good at making runs behind defenders. He's got good technique. He's young. He's got a lot to learn but everyone starts somewhere."

The tactician admitted Thursday it would be a gamble to take Daniel Sturridge to Euro 2016, as he's been unable to train because of a calf problem. Luckily for Hodgson, Rashford looks to be more than ready to fill the potential void despite a lack of experience at the international level.

While Rashford became the youngest player ever to score on his debut for England, the fastest goal by a debutant of the Three Lions came in 1951, when Bill Nicholson scored 19 seconds into a fixture versus Portugal.
