Report: Romelu Lukaku wants to go back to Chelsea this summer

Back in March, Romelu Lukaku struck twice for Everton to secure the Toffees' place in the FA Cup semi-finals. The two late goals came against Chelsea, his former club, and at the time he spoke of how he wouldn't look back on his career.

Well, Lukaku is now reportedly looking back.

According to Miguel Delaney of ESPN FC, Lukaku wants to return to Chelsea, and the Blues are already the favourite to land his signature in the event that he leaves Everton during this year's summer transfer window.

The report comes only two days after Lukaku admitted he had "already made a decision" about his future. He refused to specify, however, whether a return to Chelsea was being considered, saying, "We'll see. It's true that the English competition suits me perfectly, but there are plenty of other beautiful clubs."

It was reported in April that Lukaku was considering a return to Chelsea, and there is apparently no buyback clause in the transfer that saw the Blues sell him to Everton, who paid a club-record £28-million to sign the Belgian forward in 2014. According to Simon Johnson of the London Evening Standard, if the Anderlecht product was to return to Stamford Bridge, such a move would be valued at £65 million.

On Wednesday, Lukaku's father Roger, who was a striker for Zaire's national team (now known as the Democratic Republic of Congo's national team), admitted that he expects his son to leave Everton before Euro 2016 and listed Bayern Munich and Manchester United as "the most suitable clubs for him."

"Everton are asking around £65m for Rom," Roger told Humo, as translated by the Guardian. "I think a transfer will be done before the Euros. I hope and believe that Mino (Raiola, Lukaku's agent) is fair, and that he is acting in the best interest of the player. Romelu will decide his future, but agents have the last word most of the time. I hope and I think Mino Raiola is a honest man."

The 2015-16 Premier League season saw Lukaku tally 18 goals but suffer a significant dip in form in the second half of the campaign, as he failed to score in his last nine appearances.
