Sebastian Giovinco's impact on Major League Soccer went unrewarded Monday, after the Toronto FC playmaker was excluded from Italy's provisional Euro 2016 squad.

Genoa striker Leonardo Pavoletti - the highest scoring Italian in Serie A - and veteran midfielder Andrea Pirlo were among other notable exclusions from manager Antonio Conte's 30-man team ahead of the country's pre-tournament friendlies against Scotland and Finland.

Meanwhile, fears over Lorenzo Insigne's availability were extinguished when the Napoli striker found himself among the country's forwards that could be available for next month's competition.

In goal, Lazio net-minder Federico Marchetti has won the right to replace injured Genoa 'keeper Mattia Perin as the country's third-choice goalie.

Conte will have to trim his team down to 23 by the time Italy begins its European Championship journey on June 13 against Belgium.
