Emotional Terry wants to stay with Blues forever: 'Chelsea is my life'

Chelsea captain John Terry took a moment to hear the chants from the supporters at Stamford Bridge before saying what they all wanted to hear: that he's hoping to close out his career with the Blues.

As the fans urged him to accept the club's recent contract proposal, Terry underlined his own desire to remain at the club.

"We all want the same thing. I want to stay here for the rest of my career, I want to finish my career here. We have a few days, we'll be speaking to the club," the 35-year-old said after Chelsea's 1-1 draw with newly crowned champion Leicester City. "I want to stay, the club knows that, the fans know that.

"Chelsea is my life, just like it is yours. You've been a big part of it. I've had the best moments of my life in this stadium."

Terry's future has been the subject of debate for months, with reported interest from China and Major League Soccer. He initially believed he wouldn't get a fairy-tale ending, announcing in January that Chelsea had decided not to extend his current deal.

His contract expires in June, but hope of a renewal emerged earlier this week when the club confirmed it had offered a one-year extension to its talisman. It would tie him to Chelsea for a 19th Premier League campaign.

Terry joined the London outfit as a 14-year-old and has made 703 appearances in Chelsea blue. He was suspended for the final two matches of the campaign after drawing a second red card of the season away to Sunderland.
