The anticipated collapse never materialised. Neither did the dip in form many might have predicted during the final months of Leicester City's path towards Premier League immortality.

Under the guidance of manager Claudio Ranieri, the Midlands outfit made a habit of proving cynics wrong on a weekly basis as winning became contagious throughout a Leicester team that consistently swatted away opponents intent on knocking it off the Premier League throne.

Now with the title on its way to the King Power Stadium, here's a look back at the dates that helped turn implausible dreams into reality:

Sept. 13, Leicester 3 - 2 Aston Villa: Dyer sacrifice

Having an impact on a team's championship run takes on a whole new meaning when Nathan Dyer's name is mentioned.

Of his 13 appearances thus far, Dyer's sacrifice in the dying moments of Leicester's dramatic comeback win over Aston Villa will undoubtedly be one of the more memorable anecdotes during a stage of the season where talks of a title triggered laughter.

The bone-crunching goal - featuring an ambitious play where Dyer miraculously made enough contact to head the ball in while Brad Guzan and Alan Hutton attempted to flatten him from both sides - was the climax of a three-goal barrage to erase Villa's 2-0 en route to remaining unbeaten.

Dec. 14, Leicester 2 - 1 Chelsea: Leicester delivers double blow to defending champs

The electrifying atmosphere generated by Leicester's triumph over Chelsea at the KP Stadium signaled the beginning of a period where the temptation to avoid talks of a title run became too great to contain.

The aftershock of Claudio Ranieri's success against his former club would see his side pass its first major test of the season with flying colours, while dealing the defending champions a blow that resulted in the sensational end to Jose Mourinho's second spell in England.

While a humble character like Ranieri would likely never admit it, on the record at least, it's hard to imagine any person in a similar position could repel the overwhelming gratification that would follow after delivering such a devastating blow to one's former team on and off the pitch.

Jan. 13, Tottenham 0-1 Leicester: The great noth London escape

Leicester's trip to north London resulted in a return to the top of the table with damaging effects that left the area's two title contenders worse for ware by the time Ranier's men escaped White Hart Lane with three points.

Robert Huth came to the rescue with less than 10 minutes remaining, as the German defender's header lifted Leicester above Arsenal in the table and into first place for the final time this season.

Jan. 20, Leicester 0 - 2 Tottenham (FA Cup): Blessing in disguise

The notion that a loss can prove beneficial to a team's title run appears to be the case for Leicester after its elimination from the FA Cup.

A look at Leicester's team sheet against Tottenham reveals the type of squad Premier League sides normally deploy during the early stages of the tournament, as Ranieri elected to rest his stars.

The decision led to one of Leicester's biggest defeats up until that point of the season, but ultimately allowed the Foxes to focus primarily on the league without the risk of losing players to injury in matches outside of the Premier League.

Feb. 6, Manchester City 1-3 Leicester: Huth sinks City

There was a shocking level of ease displayed during Leicester's dominant win over Manchester City. Perhaps it had something to do with Huth's opener in the opening three minutes that set the stage for a comfortable victory.

The imposing defender, however, wasn't satisfied with one and promptly added a second to secure a decisive 3-1 victory, a result that created a six-point gap which has only swelled in the months that followed, thanks to a dip in City's league form.

April 17, Leicester 2-2 West Ham: Ulloa to the rescue

The spring clash with West Ham had all the markings of producing Leicester City's first major stumble of 2016. Leicester was on the ropes after Andy Carroll and Aaron Cresswell goals in the final 10 minutes put West Ham on course to collect a massive three points against the league leaders.

But, like so many other occasions when Leicester appeared to be on the verge of slipping up, the Foxes' resilience proved critics wrong yet again. After winning a penalty during injury time, Leonardo Ulloa sent the King Power Stadium into a frenzy when he converted the spot-kick to help Leicester earn a valuable point on the same match day where Tottenham's title credentials were boosted by a thorough 3-0 triumph over Manchester United.

April 25, Tottenham 1-1 West Brom: Dawson boost for Leicester

Craig Dawson is one of the few men outside of Leicester that deserves credit for the team's Premier League title after his heroics at White Hart Lane delivered a damaging blow to Tottenham.

The West Brom defender, however, could have easily been the target of abuse after his own goal earlier in the tie gifted the north London side an early lead. But, with less than 20 minutes left, Dawson soared over his markers to secure the draw with a close-range header to bring the match level, as Leicester's convincing 4-0 victory against Swansea increased the gap between the two to a point where a collapse for the ages was all that separated the Foxes from its first ever title.
