Eddie Howe pledges future to Bournemouth amid Everton link

Eddie Howe has stressed that he's fully committed to the Bournemouth job after reports surfaced indicating he could succeed Roberto Martinez at Everton.

The 38-year-old has overseen the Cherries' incredible rise from a cash-strapped and relegation-threatened fourth-tier outfit to a Premier League side of some stability. Martinez, meanwhile, has endured a torrid campaign of defensive instability, underachievement, and accusations of a lack of chemistry behind the scenes.

"I don't think I have to reaffirm my commitment here every week, which seems to be a regular pattern," Howe said Friday. "I love it here and I'm committed to the job. You've got to win games to stay in work and I'm fully committed to this job here.

"When you're a manager yourself you have the full support and understanding of other managers. It's a very difficult profession and you're judged constantly every week on your results, on a lot of aspects of your job. It's very tough at this level."

Howe was tempted away from the south coast before, when he took over Burnley in 2011. The stint lasted just 20 months, with the Buckinghamshire native quitting the Clarets to return to Bournemouth.

Martinez's departure seems inevitable, with a boardroom meeting apparently called to discuss his future on Friday. A negative response could see the Spaniard dismissed as early as next week, and the bookmakers see Southampton's Ronald Koeman, Stoke City's Mark Hughes, veteran Argentine Marcelo Bielsa, and Howe as the job's front-runners.

Bournemouth travels to Everton's Goodison Park home on Saturday.
