Report: Vardy given additional 1-match ban, will miss trip to Manchester United

When Leicester City travels to Manchester United on Sunday, the Foxes will have a chance to write the final chapter of their fairy tale, as three points is all that separates Claudio Ranieri's side from the Premier League title.

However, Leicester will reportedly have to do so without its goal-scoring, cast-wearing machine.

According to Stuart James of the Guardian, Jamie Vardy will be unable to take part in Leicester's potentially title-clinching fixture at United, as an independent regulatory commission imposed an additional one-match suspension after the Football Association's decision to charge the English forward with improper conduct.

Vardy was sent off for the first time since he joined Leicester after he was shown a second yellow card for diving during the Foxes' controversial 2-2 draw versus West Ham United. He responded to his sending-off by directing an angry comment at referee Jonathan Moss, resulting in the FA Cup charging the 29-year-old with improper conduct.

As a result of the red card, Vardy was forced to watch Leicester's 4-0 thrashing of Swansea City on Sunday away from the pitch. Until then, he had started in all 34 Premier League games for the Foxes this season.

There were questions surrounding whether Leicester could cope without Vardy, but the Foxes' biggest margin of victory in the Premier League this season was proof that the club doesn't rely too heavily on any one player, particularly as Leonardo Ulloa, the Englishman's replacement, scored two goals.
