Report: Blatt met with Knicks about head coaching job

Former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach David Blatt reportedly met with New York Knicks president Phil Jackson on Monday regarding the team's head coaching vacancy, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.
Blatt was fired by the Cavaliers in January and replaced by Tyronn Lue despite leading Cleveland to The Finals last season, and owns a 83-40 record as an NBA head coach.
The 56-year-old is said to be competing for the vacancy with Kurt Rambis, who is believed to be the preference of Jackson. Rambis finished the season as the Knicks interim head coach after Derek Fisher was fired.
Blatt and Cavaliers superstar LeBron James appeared to butt heads at times during his tenure with the Cavaliers, and following his departure from Cleveland, it was reported that Blatt had lost the respect of his players.
Knicks star Carmelo Anthony and James are close friends, and Anthony has said he hopes to play some role in hiring a new head coach.
While Blatt may not be the preferred candidate of Jackson, he does have a history with Knicks general manager Steve Mills. The two played together at Princeton.
