Report: Sam Mitchell among first interviews for Kings coaching job

Reinhold Matay / USA TODAY Sports

You can add another name to the list of Sacramento Kings head coaching candidates.

According to ESPN's Marc Stein, Sam Mitchell will join Mark Jackson and Vinny Del Negro as the first three candidates to be interviewed for the vacant position.

Mitchell, who won the NBA's Coach of the Year award with the Toronto Raptors in 2006-07, went 29-53 with the Minnesota Timberwolves this season after taking over on an interim basis following the death of Flip Saunders.

Mitchell owns a career coaching record of 185-242.

Mike Woodson, Kevin McHale, and Indiana Pacers assistant (and former Trail Blazers coach) Nate McMillan have also been reported as candidates for the job since the Kings fired George Karl last week after less than two tumultuous seasons at the helm.
