Saturday's Point Guard Value Rankings

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Here are theScore's point guard value rankings for Saturday, April 16:

Value Rankings
PG | SG | SF | PF | C

Top Options

Name Opponent Value
Kyle Lowry (TOR) vs. IND 9
Stephen Curry (GS) vs. HOU 8
Russell Westbrook (OKC) vs. DAL 8

Lowry gets the top spot by virtue of his lower salary than both Curry and Westbrook - by a wide margin - and his overall consistency. He will drive the Raptors offense and be the number one target throughout this game, if not the whole series.

Looking for the knockout punch, Westbrook and Curry could deliver but they provide less in the way of salary relief, which will have to be taken at another position. Still, both are often worth spending on, especially against vulnerable defenses like Houston's and Dallas'.

Mid-Tier Targets

Name Opponent Value
Deron Williams (DAL) at OKC 7
Jeff Teague (ATL) vs. BOS 6
Patrick Beverley (HOU) at GS 5

Williams may not be the player he once was, but he still has 20-point upside and will touch double-digit assist totals on occasion. He played well in limited action against the Thunder this season. Teague ended the season playing his best ball of the year. The Celtics may prove to be a difficult matchup, but his recent stretch shouldn't be discounted.

Beverley also finished strongly, but didn't perform very well against Golden State in three regular season games. He didn't do poorly, but not at a level that makes him worth a roster spot with much confidence.

Nothing to See Here

Name Opponent Value
Isaiah Thomas (BOS) at ATL 3
J.J. Barea (DAL) at OKC 3
George Hill (IND) at TOR 3

It's a rough matchup for Thomas and the Celtics in general. He's the most likely to return decent value for Boston, but the Hawks' defense is as stingy as they come. Barea might be higher if not for his recent injury woes. Hill doesn't perform at a high enough level, offensively, with enough consistency. The offense runs through SF Paul George, the only Pacers player worth rostering.
