Cardinals' Grichuk lucky to avoid dumb out on HR

Randal Grichuk is fortunate no one was watching him on the basepaths.

After barely knocking a home run over the center-field wall against the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday, the St. Louis Cardinals outfielder overran teammate Brandon Moss while rounding first base, meaning only one run should have counted on the homer.

"(The umpire's) job is to watch that," Brewers manager Craig Counsell exclaimed after the missed call. "All our eyes missed it. Everyone missed it."

It's unclear if the mistake would have made much of a difference, though: the Cardinals blanked the Brewers 7-0, thanks in big part to starter Jaime Garcia's elite, 13-strikeout performance.
