The Miami Heat cleared up any potential confusion regarding Chris Bosh's status on Wednesday, announcing definitively that the power forward will not return at any point this postseason.

Bosh has been out since the All-Star break due to a medical condition. That condition has been widely reported to be a recurrence of the blood clots that prematurely ended his season a year ago, but Bosh and the Heat have avoided clarifying his health status.

The 11-time All-Star maintained hope of returning at some point during the playoffs, and his insistent desire to do so - against the advice of team doctors - reportedly created friction between him and the organization. That seemed to be borne out when he traveled separate from the team to Toronto for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Raptors on Tuesday night.

Wednesday's announcement was made in a joint statement between Bosh and the Heat, suggesting the two sides are in agreement about his inability to play again this season.

Bosh has remained involved with the team throughout the medical ordeal, and even resumed physical activity in mid-March. He averaged 19.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 53 games before being shut down.

After Tuesday's Game 1 win, the Heat are now 24-13 without him this season.
