Report: Walton told Jackson he's not interested in Knicks job

Golden State Warriors assistant coach Luke Walton told New York Knicks president Phil Jackson that he's not currently interested in the team's head coaching position, according to the New York Daily News' Frank Isola.
The latest news comes on the same day a report emerged saying that Jackson had contacted Walton to gauge his interest in the job. The Knicks are evaluating candidates, including interim coach Kurt Rambis, who took over from the fired Derek Fisher on Feb. 8.
"It’s going to be a long, deliberate process," the New York Post's Marc Berman quoted a source as saying.
Walton played for Jackson while the latter was the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. The 36-year-old is suddenly a hot commodity in the coaches-in-waiting market after overseeing the Warriors to a 39-4 record - something he cannot be credited for due to NBA rules - while Steve Kerr was out recovering from back surgery.
The Knicks have a .349 winning percentage the past three years and have posted only four seasons over .500 since 2000.
