Thursday's Shortstop Value Rankings
Here are the shortstop value highlights for Thursday, April 7:
Value Rankings

Top Options
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Jean Segura (ARI) | vs. CHC | 10 |
Carlos Correa (HOU) | at NYY | 9 |
Francisco Lindor (CLE) | vs. BOS | 8 |
Segura is priced well below the elite tier at SS, specifically price-leaders Correa and Lindor. What he brings to the dish is a lead-off role in front of power-hitting Paul Goldschmidt and a great career line against Cubs SP John Lackey. Segura has a .421 batting average in 19 at-bats against Lackey.
Mid-Tier Targets
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Zack Cozart (CIN) | vs. PIT | 7 |
Corey Seager (LAD) | at SF | 6 |
Xander Bogaerts (BOS) | at CLE | 6 |
Addison Russell (CHC) | at ARI | 6 |
Brandon Crawford (SF) | vs. LAD | 5 |
Jimmy Rollins (CWS) | at OAK | 5 |
Marcus Semien (OAK) | vs. CWS | 4 |
Ian Desmond (TEX) | at LAA | 4 |
Cozart is a big contrarian. Hitting atop the Reds' lineup will yield high run totals that could overcome Cozart's 1-for-14 history against Charlie Morton, who struggles greatly away from PNC Park.
Most of the Dodgers' lineup has hit poorly against Jake Peavy in their careers and the deep outfield in San Francisco isn't conducive to high-scoring affairs. Temper expectations for Seager.

Nothing to See Here
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
J.J. Hardy (BAL) | vs. MIN | 3 |
Elvis Andrus (TEX) | at LAA | 2 |
Adeiny Hechavarria (MIA) | at WAS | 1 |
Andrus has been playing well so far, but a career BA of .179 in 28 AB against Hector Santiago kills his value, as does Los Angeles' pitcher's park and Andrus' spot at the bottom of the batting order.
