Four Utah State football players, along with a fifth student-athlete from the university, were injured in a car crash Friday afternoon, the university has confirmed.

Football players Adewale Adeoye, Edmund Faimalo, John Taylor, Travis Seefeldt, and former Utah State softball player Sarah Vasquez were injured in the accident.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the student-athletes and their family members during this trying time and we are hopeful that all will make a speedy recovery," interim athletics director Jana Doggett said in a statement.

"We will do everything we can to help all the student-athletes involved in today’s car accident and will give them all the love and support they need," head football coach Matt Wells said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved."

The crash involved an SUV that was carrying the five student-athletes and a sixth passenger, and a tractor-trailer, according to Fox 13.
