Report: Clemson's Deshaun Watson to have surgery, likely out 5 weeks with hand injury

Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

After suffering a hand injury in the first quarter of his team's game against Louisville on Saturday, it appears Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson will be out for an extended period of time.

Watson requires surgery on his hand and will probably miss five weeks after the operation on Monday, according to Scott Keepfer of the Greenville News.

Watson suffered what appeared to be a broken hand, just above his thumb on his throwing arm, in Saturday's game. Despite Watson's absence, Clemson was still able to defeat Louisville 23-17.
