Oklahoma's freshman running back Joe Mixon's alleged assault has been caught on video.

The footage released by the Norman Police Department allegedly shows Mixon punching a 20-year-old female Oklahoma student at a restaurant in Norman.

A five-star recruit, Mixon was suspended for the entire season on Aug. 18. He is accused knocking her unconscious and breaking several bones in her face.

Mixon has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of assault.

Fox 25, a local TV station based in Oklahoma City, described the footage in detail.

According to the video, the incident happened at 2:39 a.m. on July 25. In the video, a blonde woman and a man walk into the shot and lean against a table. The woman can be seen making a motion to someone off-camera just before Mixon walks up. As Mixon approaches the table, words were exchanged. The video is silent and it is unknown what is said.

The video shows Mixon turning away before something else is said. He turns around, moves towards the woman and then leans towards her. That's when she shoved Mixon with both hands in the chest.  Mixon initially doesn't move and then pulls his fist back and threatens a punch but he does not hit her.

That's when she slaps him. Three seconds later, Mixon pulled his fist back again and this time delivers a closed-fist punch to her face. The woman immediately falls to the ground and stays there for about a minute as Mixon leaves the area.

By the time the woman stood up, blood could be seen and someone brought her a towel while another bystander grabs a phone.

About a minute later, the woman walks out of the shot.

Mixon is due back in court on Sept. 23.
