Four-star Georgia signee D'Antne Demery was arrested Saturday night on charges of simple battery and criminal trespass and subsequently taken to Clarke County Jail, according to Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald, citing Clarke County Jail's online booking report.

Both of the charges are listed as misdemeanors.

Athens-Clarke County police spokesperson Epifanio Rodriguez stated in a synopsis of the incident that officers responded to a report of "a black male choking (strangling) a female. Upon arrival, both individuals had left the area. Moments later, the victim called 911; advising that she wished to press charges against D'Antne Demery for hitting her."

The victim told police after being contacted that the two had gotten into an argument and Demery "began to get loud" before she started to walk away. The victim said Demery then told her: "walk off again, and I'ma show you," according to Rodriguez.

After the victim walked away the second time, Demery allegedly grabbed the back of her neck, pushed her against a wall, and grabbed her by the hair.

Police also reported that Demery then elected to "reconnect with the victim, in which he threw her; causing her glasses to fall off, her phone fell out of her hand, causing it to hit the ground which resulted in a crack to the screen."

Demery and the victim were attending Georgia's spring game Saturday prior to the incident. The 6-foot-6, 319-pound defensive tackle is listed as the 195th overall recruit in the country.

Demery is currently being held with a "no bail family violence" label on his bond, according to Clarke County Jail's online booking report.
