Bettors in Vegas love Clemson to win the CFP title game

The early numbers are in and it's clear that the public loves the value of Clemson to win the CFP National Championship against Alabama.

Of the first $11,020 bet on the moneyline for next Monday's game at the Westgate SuperBook, $11,000 has been placed on Clemson to win the contest.

"Twenty bucks on Alabama," Westgate SuperBook assistant manager Ed Salmons told David Purdum of ESPN.

Alabama is currently listed as a 6.5-point favorite for the game in Tampa, but the value of a +200 straight-up win for Clemson, bettors are taking their chances on Dabo Swinney's bunch.

Clemson looked absolutely incredible in the 31-0 beatdown of Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl, and the outcome meant that sportsbooks in Las Vegas got hammered. The Tigers actually dropped from a 2.5-point underdog to a 1-point favorite by kickoff due to the amount of money coming in on Clemson.

"We got crushed, just crushed," Salmons said. "Every bet we wrote yesterday was Alabama and Clemson. Every bet, every parlay ... Alabama and Clemson."

This bowl season has been very kind to underdogs in terms of betting against the spread, with those teams posting a 24-14 record heading into the Rose Bowl on Monday.
