South Carolina players accuse Clemson of racial slurs

Multiple South Carolina players accused their Clemson opponents of directing racial slurs at them throughout Saturday night's game in the locker room afterward.

"They called one of our defensive linemen, they used the N-word," Gamecocks linebacker Bryson Allen-Williams said to reporters, according to The Post and Courrier's David Caraviello. "An offensive lineman, I don't know his number."

Along with being unsure who hurled the slurs, Allen-Williams didn't specify the race of the player in question.

Other South Carolina players, who didn't speak to the media after the contest, echoed Allen-Williams' claims via Twitter:

Defensive lineman Dante Sawyer also posted:

racism still alive in Clemson i see.. classless sobs, still calling people n------ is crazy.

Tensions were high all night long in Clemson, beginning before the game when Tigers coach Dabo Swinney snubbed South Carolina's Will Muschamp of a handshake at midfield.

The emotions carried over into the locker rooms afterward, with Tigers linebacker Ben Boulware referring to the in-state rivals as Clemson's "little brother," while the Gamecoks left the field feeling "disrespected" by Clemson's perceived showboating toward the end of the game.

Clemson defeated South Carolina 56-7.
