Wisconsin HC: Despite benching, Bart Houston will remain starter
After benching Bart Houston in favor of Alex Hornibrook during Saturday's win over Georgia State, Wisconsin coach Paul Chryst told reporters there is no permanent quarterback change on the horizon.
"Just got done with the game. Like I said, Bart's our starter right now," Chryst said. "I'm proud of what Alex did and how he came in. So I'm not planning anything right now other than appreciating this win."
Houston struggled against the Panthers and was given the hook after going 10-of-18 for 91 yards. Hornibrook, a freshman, came in and went 8-of-12 for 122 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.
For the season, the senior Houston is 44-of-71 for 527 yards, with two touchdowns and two picks.
Chryst's comments clash with a report from David Hookstead of The Daily Caller, who tweeted after the game that Hornibrook will get the call against Michigan State next week. Hookstead's report cited a source close to the situation.
