NCAA Game Summary - Utah at Colorado

Boulder, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Travis Wilson threw for 311 yards and three touchdowns as the Utah Utes came back to defeat the Colorado Buffaloes, 38-34, in a Pac-12 Conference clash at Folsom Field.

Wilson converted 25-of-37 passes on the day and was sacked two times, while Kaelin Clay reeled in 10 of those completions for 88 yards and two TDs for the Utes (8-4, 5-4 Pac-12) as they closed the regular season with two wins in three tries.

As for the Buffaloes (2-10, 0-9), the only Pac-12 program to go winless in conference play, they were led by Christian Powell who ran for 75 yards and three scores, while quarterback Sefo Liufau hit 20-of-31 passes for 317 yards and a third-quarter touchdown that put the hosts on top for a short spell.

Powell opened the day's scoring with a two-yard TD run in the first quarter, capping a 12-play, 75-yard drive.

The Utes cut into the deficit later in the frame thanks to Andy Phillips and his 41-yard field goal. Just seconds into the second quarter, Wilson hooked up with Clay on a 34-yard TD pass play to move Utah out in front by three.

Powell struck again less than two minutes later for Colorado, crossing the goal line from one yard out, but Utah was again quick to respond, this time with a two-yard TD catch by Clay.

At the 5:20 mark of the frame Powell's number was called yet again, this time for a 33-yard touchdown scamper that gave the Buffs a 21-16 advantage. In the finals second of the half Will Oliver's 29-yard field goal for Colorado made the score 24-16 at the break.

The teams traded scores in the third quarter, beginning with a one-yard TD run by Utah's Devontae Booker, followed by a 46-yard field goal by Oliver.

Wilson then found Westlee Tonga for a 28-yard TD pass play, but Wilson's two- point conversion attempt was intercepted, leaving Utah with a 28-27 advantage with 6:37 to play in the period.

Liufau then found Nelson Spruce for a 66-yard TD pass play less than a minute later, giving the Buffs their final lead of the game before Phillips connected on a 35-yard field goal and Dominique Hatfield returned an interception 20 yards for the score with 10 minutes left in the fourth.
