NCAA Game Summary - Louisville at Notre Dame

South Bend, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Reggie Bonnafon rushed for two touchdowns and threw for a third as the Louisville Cardinals defeated the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 31-28, in a non-conference battle at Notre Dame Stadium.

Bonnafon connected on 8-of-21 passes for 180 yards, was sacked four times and picked off once for the Cardinals (8-3), while Brandon Radcliff contributed 136 yards and one touchdown on the ground. DeVante Parker added 65 yards receiving and one score in the win.

As for the Fighting Irish (7-4), Everett Golson threw for 236 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. Tarean Folston contributed with 134 yards one touchdown on the ground and Will Fuller added 109 yards and one score through the air. Corey Robinson chipped in with 41 yards receiving and a TD.

The Fighting Irish jumped out to a 3-0 lead when Kyle Brindza kicked a 28- yard field goal with just under 12 minutes to play in the first quarter.

The Cardinals took a 14-3 lead when Bonnafon rushed for two touchdowns. The first score came on a 12-yard run with about seven minutes left in the first quarter. The second coming from eight yards out six minutes later.

Notre Dame cut the lead to 14-6 when Brindza converted on a 37-yard field goal early in the second quarter.

John Wallace kicked a 26-yard field goal to give Louisville an 11-point lead heading into the break.

In the third quarter the Irish regained the lead, 20-17, when Folston rushed for a six-yard touchdown and Golson connected on a seven-yard touchdown pass to Robinson with 9:20 left to play in the period.

The Cardinals responded minutes later as Bonnafon connected on a 21-yard touchdown pass to Parker and then in the fourth Radcliff rushed for a 15-yard touchdown to make the score 31-20.

Notre Dame responded when Golson connected with Fuller on a 28-yard touchdown pass. Golson ran in for the two-point conversion to cut the lead to 31-28. The hosts had a chance to knot the score in the final minute, but a 32- yard field goal attempt by Brindza missed the mark.

This was the sixth straight game that Notre Dame has given up 30 or more points, the first time that's happened in 126 seasons of football in South Bend.
