NCAA Game Summary - Utah at Washington State

Pullman, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Connor Halliday threw four touchdowns as the Washington State Cougars were victorious over the Utah Utes 49-37 in a Pac-12 contest at Martin Stadium.

Halliday threw for 488 yards and went 39-of-62 passing for the Cougars (6-5, 4-4 Pac-12), which became bowl eligible for the first time since 2006 with the win. Marcus Mason finished with 86 rushing yards on 10 attempts and added 88 yards and a score on eight receptions. Dominique Williams led all receivers with 154 yards and two touchdowns on five receptions.

The Utes (4-7, 1-7) were led by quarterback Adam Schulz and his 347 yards and three touchdowns through the air on 21-of-46 passing. However Schulz was also intercepted twice. Kelvin York rushed for 94 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries. Dres Anderson had 129 receiving yards and a touchdown on five catches.

The Cougars started the game by scoring 21 unanswered points in the first quarter. Halliday had a five-yard touchdown pass to Williams, Damante Horton returned an interception 22 yards for a touchdown and Casey Locker returned another interception 39 yards for a touchdown.

York answered for the Utes by scoring on a 14-yard touchdown rush with 1:07 left in the first stanza.

York scored on Utah's first drive in the second period with a two-yard touchdown rush to bring the Utes within seven.

Andrew Furney connected on a 27-yard field goal with 11:01 left in the half to push the Cougars to a 24-14 lead.

Halliday connected on a nine-yard touchdown pass to Mason with 7:16 left before the break but Furney's extra point attempt failed.

Schulz threw a three-yard touchdown strike to Anderson but the Utes still trailed by 10 after they failed to convert on a two-point conversion attempt.

Furney hit a 52-yard field goal as the half ended to give the Cougars a 33-20 lead at the break.

Andy Phillips' 34-yard field goal brought the visitors back within 10 points in the beginning of the second half.

Furney would tack on another three points after making a 28-yard field goal with 9:02 left in the third frame.

Schulz threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Jake Murphy to bring the Utes within six points. Washington State answered right back with an eight-yard touchdown from Halliday to Vince Mayle.

Schulz completed a 64-yard touchdown pass to Murphy to keep the Utes within range early in the fourth quarter.

Halliday responded with a 71-yard touchdown pass to Williams. The two- point conversion failed leaving the Cougars up 49-37 with 4:42 left to play.

Utah came into the game leading the nation in total sacks and sacks per game (3.6) but they did not have a single quarterback takedown on Saturday.
