NCAA Game Summary - California at Colorado

Boulder, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Sefo Liufau threw for 364 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Colorado Buffaloes to a 41-24 victory over the California Golden Bears in a Pac-12 Conference showdown at Folsom Field.

Liufau completed 23-of-36 passes and tossed an interception for Colorado (4-6, 1-6 Pac-12), which snapped its 14-game conference losing streak. Paul Richardson (11 receptions) and Nelson Spruce (eight receptions) each finished with 140 yards, while Christian Powell had 60 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries.

For Cal (1-10, 0-8), Jared Goff was 23-of-45 for 173 yards with an interception before being pulled for Zach Kline (3-of-7, 41 yards). Brendan Bigelow (107 yards, two TDs) and Khalfani Muhammad (78 yards, TDs) were both impressive in the ground game.

The only score of the first quarter came on a 27-yard field goal by Will Oliver to put Colorado up, 3-0.

The Buffs extended their lead early in the second quarter when Liufau hooked up with Kyle Slavin for a 10-yard score, but Cal ran off 10 unanswered points to tie the game after a Vincenzo D'Amato field goal (42 yards) and a Muhammad rushing touchdown (55 yards).

Colorado responded late in the second quarter with 14 straight points of its own. First, Liufau completed a 10-yard touchdown pass to Tony Jones with 2:40 remaining. Less than two minutes later, Powell rushed in a two-yard score to give the Buffs a 24-10 advantage at intermission.

The Buffs extended their lead late in the third quarter on a 24-yard field goal off the foot of Oliver. Liufau tossed his third touchdown pass of the game early in the final quarter, connecting with Michael Adkins II on a 63- yard strike.

Cal brought its deficit to 17 following a one-yard touchdown rush by Bigelow, but the Buffs put the game away on the following kickoff, as Nelson Spruce returned an on-side attempt 46 yards for a touchdown.

Bigelow added one more touchdown late, this time from 26 yards out.

Colorado converted 6-of-14 third-down attempts and held more than 32 minutes of time of possession.
