St. John's suspends Chris Obekpa for 2 weeks
Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports
St. John's coach Steve Lavin announced Sunday that junior Chris Obekpa has been suspended for two weeks.
"Chris has been suspended for a violation of team rules," said Lavin. "All of the young men associated with our program are held to standards consistent with the aims and mission of our University. Accountability is tied to the decision making of our student-athletes. It is our hope Chris will learn from this experience."
The earliest Obekpa will be available is March 29, if St. John's were to advance in the NCAA tournament.
Obekpa is averaging 5.8 points and seven rebounds.
