Nevada hires ex-Cal assistant 1 day after resignation

It didn't take Yann Hufnagel very long to find work.

One day after resigning as an assistant coach for Cal amid allegations of sexual harassment, Eric Musselman's staff in Nevada added him as an assistant on Friday.

"I met Yann nearly a decade ago and his track record as an assistant at three high-caliber academic institutions speaks for itself. He's a high-energy coach and recruiter, and we're happy to have him in our program," Musselman said.

Hufnagel had been on paid leave since mid-March when Cal revealed that a reporter had accused him of sexual harassment. The school had launched its investigation in August. The Bears served him with a termination notice in March and Hufnagel said he'd appeal to keep his position. Instead, he resigned Thursday, one day before the school was set to release the results of its review.

"The toxic environment at UC Berkeley has made it impossible for Mr. Hufnagel to rejoin the basketball team he loves, even if he is vindicated in full, as the facts would show," Hufnagel's attorney, Mary McNamara, said in a statement Thursday. "He needs to look out for the student-athletes he coached, as well as his own future."

Prior to his two seasons at Cal, Hufnagel served as an assistant coach at Vanderbilt and Harvard, and as a graduate assistant at Oklahoma.
