NCAA Game Summary - Lafayette at Boston University

Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Led by 21 points and eight assists from Maurice Watson Jr., the top-seeded Boston University Terriers downed the ninth-seeded Lafayette Leopards, 91-54, in a Patriot League Tournament quarterfinal matchup at Agganis Arena.

For the Terriers (23-9), D.J. Irving added 17 points and Travis Robinson scored 14. The Terriers now advance to the semifinal round on Saturday night and will host fifth-seeded Army, winners of their quarterfinal game against Bucknell.

Bryce Scott and Seth Hinrichs each finished with 13 points to lead the Leopards (11-20), while Hinrichs added eight rebounds.

BU was red hot to start the contest, connecting on 68 percent of its field goal tries, including an impressive 7-of-9 from beyond the arc, as the Terriers led comfortably at the break, 42-27. Lafayette shot 42.3 percent from the field in the half, including 5-of-10 from 3-point distance.

In the second half, the Terriers continued their shooting clinic, knocking down 64.5 percent of their shots from the field, though they struggled from deep, making just 3-of-12 from the perimeter. The Leopards struggled after intermission, shooting just 30 percent from the field. BU pushed its lead to as many as 37 points in the second half, as it set a conference record for largest margin of victory in the quarterfinal round.

Boston University shot a school-record 66.1 percent from the field. The Terriers dominated the frontcourt by outscoring the Leopards in the paint, 42-20, and outrebounding them, 33-24.
