NCAA Game Summary - Hofstra at SMU

Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Markus Kennedy registered a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds as the SMU Mustangs ran away from the Hofstra Pride, 73-49, in a non-conference bout at Moody Coliseum.

Leading the Mustangs (14-4) on offense was Cannen Cunningham with 14 points in 19 minutes off the bench, followed by Ben Moore and Nic Moore with 10 points apiece, the latter handing out seven assists as the squad won for the fourth time in the last five outings.

Chris Jenkins tallied 14 points for the Pride (6-12), shooting 4-of-8 behind the 3-point line, while Dion Nesmith and Zeke Upshaw accounted for 11 and 10 points, respectively, as the team had a two-game win streak snapped.

SMU scored the first points of the contest and never looked back, moving out to a 33-18 halftime lead by limiting the visitors to just six field goals and 3-of-14 shooting beyond the arc.

In the second half Hofstra responded with 7-of-15 shooting out on the perimeter, but at the same time the Mustangs were converting 55.2 percent from the floor overall to preserve the lopsided win.

The Pride were easily handled on the glass, 43-27, and came away with more turnovers (18) than field goals (16).

This was a game originally slated to take place on Dec. 7 but had to be rescheduled due to inclement weather.
