NCAA Game Summary - Saint Peter's at Monmouth

West Long Branch, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Chris Burke scored 16 points as the Saint Peter's Peacocks defeated the Monmouth Hawks, 61-51, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tilt at the MAC.

Desi Washington had 14 points, while Marvin Dominique finished with 12 and nine rebounds for the Peacocks (11-16, 7-11 MAAC), who have won two in a row.

Josh James netted 18 points for the Hawks (10-19, 4-14), who extended their losing streak to nine games. Andrew Nicholas added 10 points in the setback.

Saint Peter's connected 40.9 percent of its shots from the field in the first half, but went 8-of-11 at the free-throw line, as it led 30-23 at intermission. Monmouth made 42.9 percent of its field goal attempts in the period, but was 0-of-4 from beyond the arc.

Both teams shot 33.3 percent from the floor in the second frame but the Peacocks maintained their lead by going 14-of-21 at the charity stripe. After James cut the Saint Peter's lead to six with 20 seconds remaining, the Peacocks went on a 4-0 run to close out the meeting.

The Peacocks attempted twice as many free-throws, 32-16, as the Hawks and forced 15 turnovers in the matchup.
