NCAA Game Summary - Monmouth at Rider

Lawrenceville, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Daniel Stewart poured in 21 points and Tommy Pereira scored 20, as the Rider Broncs outlasted the Monmouth Hawks in overtime, 77-71, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference bout at Alumni Gymnasium.

Pereira did his damage on 6-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc as Rider (10-9, 6-4 MAAC) won for the second time in three games. Anthony Myles chipped in 12 points and six assists for the hosts.

For Monmouth (10-11, 4-6), which had won two straight coming in, Max DiLeo and Collin Stewart both netted 12 points, while Deon Jones and Andrew Nicholas put up 10 points apiece.

Rider took control of the contest early, shooting 44.8 percent from the field in the first half while holding Monmouth to just 33.3 percent shooting, as it carried a comfortable 37-20 lead into intermission.

The Hawks turned things around after halftime as they mounted their comeback, draining 58.6 percent of its second-half field goal tries. They trailed by 11 with under four minutes to play but ended regulation on a 16-5 run, with Justin Robinson's 3-pointer with just one second left tying the game and forcing overtime.

The Broncs made up for their second-half collapse in the extra session, however, as they shot 3-of-4 from the field and 7-of-12 from the foul line to secure the six-point victory.

Rider finished the game 20-of-35 from the foul line, while Monmouth was a mere 5-of-14 at the stripe.
