NCAA Game Summary - Belmont at Eastern Kentucky

Richmond, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - Corey Walden finished with 18 points as the Eastern Kentucky Colonels downed the Belmont Bruins, 74-63, in an Ohio Valley Conference matchup at McBrayer Arena.

For the Colonels (12-6, 3-2 OVC), Glenn Cosey added 13 points, Tarius Johnson scored 12 points and Eric Stutz chipped in with 10.

Craig Bradshaw led all scorers with 22 points for the Bruins (12-7, 4-1), while Drew Windler tallied 12 points and J.J. Mann finished with 10.

EKU shot 56.5 percent from the field in the first half, including 4-of-12 from 3-point range, as the Colonels took a 32-31 lead into halftime. Belmont shot just 38.5 percent in the first period including a 5-of-16 clip from beyond the arc, but outscored the Colonels 7-1 at the free-throw line to stay close.

After intermission, the Colonels shot 48.3 percent from the field and held the Bruins to 36.4 percent efficiency. Both squads hit on 4-of-14 from 3-point range in the second stanza. With the scored knotted at 48-48 midway through the second half, the Colonels went on a 15-1 run to take control of the contest and handed Belmont its first conference loss of the season.

EKU dominated the scoring down low, outscoring Belmont in the paint, 38-16. The Bruins did outrebound the Colonels, 37-24, and converted 14 offensive rebounds into 15 second chance points.
