NCAA Game Summary - Texas at Texas Tech

Lubbock, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Jaye Crockett produced a double-double consisting of 22 points and 10 rebounds, both of which were game highs, as the Texas Tech Red Raiders upset the Texas Longhorns, 59-53, in a Big 12 Conference battle at United Spirit Arena.

The only other player to score in double figures for the Red Raiders (14-17, 6-12 Big 12) was Jordan Tolbert who tallied 11 points in 30 minutes off the bench as the team closed out the regular season by snapping a six-game slide.

The Longhorns (22-9, 11-7) were paced by Martez Walker with 13 points, shooting 3-of-7 behind the 3-point line, but the rest of the roster combined to shoot only 1-of-11 beyond the arc as they fell for the second time in the last three outings. Cameron Ridley pitched in with 12 points and, while the combination of starters Isaiah Taylor and Javan Felix shot a mere 4-of-25 from the floor on the day.

Both teams had trouble producing offense in the first half, yet even missing all seven chances behind the 3-point line in the period and shooting 8-of-20 from the floor overall, the Red Raiders found themselves trailing by just two points at the break, 23-21. Texas was 1-of-7 on the outside through the first 20 minutes of action.

In the second half both teams led by as many as seven points, but back-to-back 3-pointers by Crockett and Tolbert in the final two minutes pushed the hosts out to a 55-48 advantage and from there they managed to hold it together.

The Red Raiders shot only 2-of-12 behind the 3-point line in the meeting, but outscored Texas at the free-throw line, 15-9.
