Notre Dame, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Lamar Patterson tallied 20 points, seven assists and seven rebounds to lift the Pittsburgh Panthers to an 85-81 overtime victory over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in an Atlantic Coast Conference thriller at Purcell Pavilion.

Talib Zanna recorded a double-double for the Panthers (22-7, 10-6 ACC) with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Cameron Wright scored 15 points and Michael Young contributed 13 points.

Pat Connaughton led Notre Dame (15-15, 6-11) with 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor. Eric Atkins contributed 17 points and nine assists, while Steve Vasturia netted 15 points and grabbed a team-high six boards.

The Fighting Irish knocked down 7-of-9 attempts from 3-point range and sank all four of their shots at the free-throw line in the first half en route to a 39-35 lead at the intermission. Pittsburgh was limited to just 39.4 percent efficiency from the floor, but attempted 14 more field goals in the opening period.

The Panthers heated up to sink 46.2 percent of their field goal tries after the break and limited the hosts to a 36.8 percent clip from the floor. Young scored on a tip-in with 1:19 remaining in regulation to give Pittsburgh a 65-62 lead and Notre Dame turned the ball over on its next possession. However, the Panthers failed to put the game out of reach as Patterson missed a 3-pointer and Wright had a free-throw attempt fall off the mark. V.J. Beachem drained a shot from beyond the arc with nine seconds showing on the game clock to tie the score at 65 and Notre Dame came up with a stop on the defensive end to force an extra session.

Notre Dame was trailing, 83-80, with possession with four seconds left in overtime, but Patterson fouled Atkins before the hosts had an opportunity to tie the score. Patterson pulled down a rebound after Atkins missed his second free-throw attempt and sank a pair of shots at the charity stripe on the other end to put it out of reach.

After going 10-of-13 at the charity stripe in regulation, Pittsburgh converted 14-of-15 attempts at the free-throw line in overtime and outscored the Fighting Irish, 6-0, in the paint to arrive at the four-point decision.

The Panthers finished the contest with a 38-22 edge in total rebounds.
