NCAA Game Summary - La Salle at Fordham

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Tyreek Duren hit a layup just before the buzzer sounded to give the La Salle Explorers a 64-62 victory over the Fordham Rams in an Atlantic 10 Conference bout at Rose Hill Gymnasium.

Duren finished the game with 10 points and four assists for La Salle (14-14, 6-8 A-10). Sam Mills led all Explorers with 18 points in the game, while Jerrell Wright tallied 14 points and nine rebounds. Tyrone Garland rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points in the win, which was the second in a row for La Salle.

Branden Frazier led all scorers in the contest with 23 points for Fordham (9-18, 2-12), adding six assists. Jon Severe netted 10 points, and Ryan Canty grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds in the loss. The Rams have dropped six consecutive contests.

La Salle shot an even 40 percent from the floor in the first half, and connected on 3-of-9 from 3-point range to take a slim 30-27 lead into the half. Fordham connected on 43.3 percent of its shots in the frame, but went just 1-of-5 from deep.

The Explorers improved slightly in the second half, netting 43.3 percent of their field goal tries and went 4-of-10 from distance. Fordham improved to 50 percent shooting in the period, and hit 11-of-14 from the free-throw line. Bryan Smith hit a jumper with 35 seconds left to play for the Rams, but Duren's layup at the buzzer prevented overtime.

La Salle outscored Fordham from 3-point range on the night, 21-9, and had the edge in rebounding, 36-30. The Rams won the battle in points in the paint, 32-26.
