NCAA Game Summary - Brown at Cornell

Ithaca, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Cedric Kuakumensah scored a career-high 30 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to lead the Brown Bears to an 81-75 overtime win over the Cornell Big Red in an Ivy League tilt at Newman Arena.

Leland King added a career-high 23 points to go along with 12 boards for the Bears (14-10, 6-4 Ivy).

For the Big Red (2-22, 1-9), Nolan Cressler scored a game-high 34 points, while Devin Cherry posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Cornell shot 42.9 percent from the field in the first half, including 5-of-11 from beyond the arc, as the Big Red took a slim lead at the break, 36-34. Brown hit on a nearly identical 42.4 percent from the field, but the Bears missed all but one of their seven 3-point tries in the half.

After the intermission, Brown again was ineffective from deep, missing both of its 3-point tries, but did shoot 43.5 percent from the field overall. Cornell struggled from the floor, shooting just 37.5, but did make 4-of-9 from beyond the arc. The Big Red missed two free throws in the final minute, but still held a 67-65 lead with 35 seconds left in regulation when Kuakumensah scored on a lay-up 12 seconds later to send the game into overtime. Cherry missed a jumper at the buzzer that would have won it for Cornell.

In the extra session, Brown scored the first five points and never trailed again, as the Bears pulled out the victory.

Brown dominated in the paint, outscoring Cornell 44-24. The Bears also scored 20 second chance points as a result of 13 offensive rebounds.
