NCAA Game Summary - Florida Atlantic at Maryland

College Park, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Jake Layman led all scorers with 22 points, and the Maryland Terrapins upended the Florida Atlantic Owls, 66-62, in non-league play at the Comcast Center.

Shaquille Cleare, Dez Wells and Charles Mitchell each contributed 10 points to help the Terrapins (7-4) kick off a five-game homestand in winning fashion.

Pablo Bertone led the way with 21 points for the Owls (3-8), who remain in search of their first victory away from home this season. Marquan Botley rounded out the double-digit scorers with 18 points.

The Terps grabbed their largest lead at the 9:22 mark of the opening frame, as Roddy Peters came up with a steal and layup to make it a 22-9 game. But FAU answered with a 19-7 spurt and eventually went into the locker room at halftime trailing by only a 33-31 margin.

However, the Owls shot just 35.7 percent from the floor in the second stanza and never led, as Maryland committed only three turnovers during the final 20 minutes.

The Terps enjoyed a 40-33 rebounding advantage for the game, and that included a 16-9 edge on the offensive glass.
