Six more games remain on the Los Angeles Lakers' schedule before their disastrous 2015-16 campaign reaches its conclusion. Not everyone on the roster will be taking part in the action, though.

Head coach Byron Scott has informed veterans Lou Williams and Brandon Bass that their services won't be required during this final stretch, Scott told reporters following his team's 107-100 loss to the Boston Celtics on Sunday night.

Scott intends to allow some of the team's young players a chance to snag a few more minutes over the next few weeks. He said Williams and Bass would need to stay ready in case of emergency, but that's the only way they would see the floor.

Williams has been unable to replicate the success he experienced last season when he took home NBA Sixth Man of the Year honors with the Toronto Raptors. His numbers are on par with what he averaged north of the border (15.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists on 40.8 percent shooting), but they haven't translated to more victories in his first year with the lowly 16-60 Lakers.

Bass has acted as one of the few consistent options off the bench for Scott, averaging 7.2 points and 4.3 rebounds on 54.9 percent shooting in 66 appearances.

The Lakers' young backcourt of D'Angelo Russell (20) and Jordan Clarkson (23) each played over 35 minutes at the Staples Center against Boston, combining to score 25 points on 10-of-30 shooting.
