Clippers' Prigioni will not play for Argentina at Olympics

Jennifer Stewart-USA TODAY Sports

On the day it became public that Chris Paul would withdraw himself from consideration for the U.S. Olympic team this summer, a Los Angeles Clippers teammate is also excusing himself from his own national duty.

Veteran reserve point guard Pablo Prigioni has announced he will not play for his native Argentina this summer in Rio de Janeiro.

Prigioni, who turns 39 in May, has been a mainstay with the Argentine squad for more than a decade. He has played for three NBA teams since coming to North America in 2012 after an illustrious career in Europe. He is averaging 2.2 points in 51 games for the Clippers this season.

San Antonio Spurs veteran Manu Ginobili, who is two months younger than Prigioni, has committed to Argentina this summer.
