Blazers' Leonard to undergo season-ending surgery

Craig Mitchelldyer / USA TODAY Sports

Meyers Leonard of the Portland Trail Blazers will undergo surgery on his left shoulder and miss the remainder of the season, the team announced Thursday.

Leonard first dislocated the shoulder in November, missing seven games. He re-injured it during a practice last week in San Antonio, however, and hasn't played since.

It's a major blow to the Blazers, who are 4-7 this season without the big man. A prototypical stretch-four, Leonard saw his 3-point accuracy drop slightly to 37.7 percent this season, while averaging 8.4 points and 5.1 rebounds.

Leonard's scheduled to undergo the procedure April 8. The Blazers were sitting in sixth place in the Western Conference entering Thursday's action.
