Blazers' Leonard re-dislocates shoulder, return unknown

Meyers Leonard's left shoulder doesn't seem interested in remaining in its socket. The Portland Trail Blazers big man dislocated the shoulder Wednesday for the second time this season, CSN's Jason Quick reports.

Leonard suffered the injury while playing five-on-five during team practice in San Antonio, explaining that it "got hit the wrong way and it came out."

It's unclear how much time he'll be forced to miss, but at the very least, he's been ruled out for Thursday's game against Spurs.

Leonard first dislocated the shoulder back on Nov. 11 - in a game against the Spurs, incidentally - and sat out seven games (five of which the Blazers lost). He started the first nine games of the season, but has been coming off the bench since his return.

It took Leonard a while to rediscover his jumper after the injury, but he's looked more and more comfortable shooting it as the season's progressed. His 3-point percentage has improved each month, and has been well above 40 percent since the start of 2016.

For the season, he's averaging career highs in points (8.4), rebounds (5.1), and assists (1.5), shooting 44.8 percent from the field and 37.7 percent from beyond the arc. The Blazers have scored nearly four additional points per 100 possessions with him on the floor.

Leonard, who has an interesting restricted free-agency summer ahead of him, told Quick he's hoping the recurrent injury won't keep him out as long as it did the first time, though he admitted it's too early to tell.
