Anthony Davis suffers left knee injury in loss to Blazers

Derick E. Hingle / USA TODAY Sports

New Orleans Pelicans power forward Anthony Davis did not come out of the tunnel after halftime Friday night, having suffered an unspecified left knee injury in the first half against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Davis racked up 19 points in just 14 minutes before the injury knocked him out of the game. It's unclear how he was injured.

Trailing by 14 after two quarters, the Davis-less Pelicans went on a huge second-half run out of nowhere to eventually take the lead, getting tremendous, 30-point performances from both Ryan Anderson and Jrue Holiday.

They ran out of gas down the stretch though, eventually falling to the Blazers, 117-112.

A lengthy absence for Davis, who has some $24 million riding on an All-NBA berth, could well hurt his chances for a spot on one of the three teams at season's end.
