Jodie Meeks could return to Pistons for upcoming road trip
It was just the second game of the 2015-16 season when Detroit Pistons guard Jodie Meeks suffered a non-displaced fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his right foot, ruling him out for 12-to-16 weeks.
The seven-year pro has now been cleared for contact, and he told reporters Wednesday he could be back in the lineup for Detroit's upcoming road trip.
Detroit begins the trip Wednesday evening with a visit to the American Airlines Center to take on the Dallas Mavericks. The team will then travel to Charlotte to battle the Hornets on March 11, before facing the Philadelphia 76ers on March 12 and the Washington Wizards on March 14.
Meeks, 28, is in the second year of a three-year, $18-million contract. He averaged 11.1 points on 41.6 percent shooting and 34.9 percent from behind the arc during the 2014-15 campaign.
His return to the second unit will provide some welcome depth behind Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who is being spotted by a combination of Reggie Bullock and Darrun Hilliard.
